Andreea Banica

Andreea Banica made her debut in music after she got noticed at Mamaia Festival in 1998. Alongside Claudia Patrascanu and Iulia Jianu she started the first girl group – Exotic. Their first song was named “Sexy” and was a huge success. In the following two years they released 3 singles (“Uita-ma”, “Sexy” and “Un sarut”), each of them accompanied by a video, and recorded two albums: Sexxy and Pasional.

Andreea Banica followed her own path, after the breakup of the band Exotic, much like the two former colleagues. In 2001, together with Cristina Rus she starts the project called “Blondy”. The two released 3 albums (“Atât de aproape”, “O parte din tine”, “Dulce și amar”) and a reprint. Blondy band released 6 videos and won the award for the Best Dance at Romania Actualitati Radio Gala, 2003. Cristina Rus left the band in 2005, dedicating herself to a solo career.

Andreea Banica decided to continue under the same name, Blondy. The first success comes with the song „Dansez, dansez”, composed by Laurentiu Duta, who also entirely composed her first solo album. This step proved to be an inspired choice as the album, released under the Cat Music label, was certified gold for its sales. The album had two singles,“Îndrăgostiți” and “Dulce și amar”.

She strengthened her position among the best-selling recording artists from Romania, and with the single “Fiesta”, Andreea Banica reached first place in all the Romanian musical charts. Andreea is nominated at the MTV European Music Awards in the category Best Romanian Act. At the Munich Gala, Andreea is designated the winner of European Music Awards 2007 – Best Romanian Act, the most important and most wanted musical award came in recognition of her success.

Andreea decided to abandon the name “Blondy” and comes on the stage with her own name – Andreea Banica. This change was due to future changes in the formula, made in the fall of 2007.

The second album of her solo career was entitled “Rendez-vous” and it was released with the single “Fiesta”. The second single was the track that gives the album title, “Rendez-vous”.

Andreea always offered singles of great success, and that is because she was actively involved in their creation and worked side by side with Laurentiu Duta, Marius Moga and Sandy Deac. Among her collaborations starting 2007 we find names like: Simplu, Laurentiu Duta and Taraful din Clejani.

Andreea Banica releases in early 2008 a new video for the song „Încredere”, which was directed by Dragos Buliga, and started working for a new album. In the spring of the same year she released a new single, “Hooky Song”, featuring Smiley. The song was composed by producers who have worked with artists such as Leona Lewis and One Republic. The song also has a music video directed by Iulian Moga.

Her musical career passes second place in 2009 as she waits for the coming birth of her daughter. Although no one expected her to release a new single  before giving birth, she releases in mid-March a music video for the song “Le Ri Ra”.

In august 2009, at the Callatis festival, Andreea releases a new single: “Samba”, in collaboration with Dony.
